With more than 50 years of experience in the Elevating Devices Industry, Norm Benn worked in the installation and maintenance of elevators in the United Kingdom, West Africa, and North America. He also served as Chief Inspector of the Elevating Devices Branch, Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations.

As a member of the Provincial Chief Elevators Inspectors Association, he served as Chair of the Elevating Devices Advisory Council, CSA (Canadian Standards Association). In that role, he helped develop national and various CSA codes relating to the industry.

Norm dedicated much of his life to providing technical and educational support to the Elevating Devices Industry. His knowledge, experience, and commitment to safety and training continue to be reflected in the work of the Norm Benn Training Centre.
